IMHO its best use one of those “best mortgage rates by zip code” type things initially if you are looking to find best rates in any area. Basically these are operated by national mortgage brokers and when you input your zip code they will display the 4 best rates on offer in your area along with full details on how to contact them if you wish. I find it much better to research this way without giving your contact information, as you will find that many of these mortgage companies will not stop calling you even if all you asked for was some information on rates! best not to give out contact details until you have decided on a company
